The CHiPPS program offers an opportunity for undergraduate and master’s students at San Jose State University to spend a summer doing research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This program provides participants with practical, hands-on experience in the synthesis, characterization, and modeling of photoresist materials for microelectronics. Over the course of ten weeks, student scholars receive mentorship from CHiPPS scientists, fostering skill development and professional growth. Additionally, participants are awarded a monetary stipend, which includes financial support for travel to LBL.

The program has supported 8 students over the past two summers to do research at LBL. Applications for Summer 2025 will open soon. Please contact Prof Dahyun Oh if you are interested.

The CHiPPS program enables student researchers within the center and at San Jose State University to participate in a three-day online course offered by the Cornell NanoScale Science and Technology Facility. This course encompasses key topics such as photolithography, microfluidic device fabrication, etching and pattern transfer, chemical vapor deposition, scanning electron microscopy, electron-beam lithography, and atomic force microscopy. It combines lectures with practical laboratory demonstrations, offering participants an in-depth understanding of these advanced techniques.
